about us
Israel Allen - owner and operator
I’m Israel, and I love this city. I tended bar in downtown Greensboro for nearly a decade until COVID hit and have worked in craft beer since 2009. From there I tried a lot of different jobs (including English tutor, exterminator for like 1 day, and drivers ed teacher) before I got back behind the bar doing what I love: connecting with people. Owning my own place where staff are paid and treated well is my dream. I am passionate about the “third space” where people can have fun, build community, and just enjoy life together. Outside of work, I love to play guitar, Magic the Gathering, be with family, and straight up goof around. My partner, Casey, moved to Greensboro in 2015 to pursue a masters in English at UNCG and never left. Now they work as a mental health counselor. Casey has been in recovery since January 2019, which for her means she doesn’t have to drink to feel normal. Their relationship to alcohol helps strengthen our passion for keeping a variety of tasty N/As stocked and ready. Casey loves to write and has an ever-rotating list of creative hobbies (dancing, singing, and cooking to name a few). We love music, to bike and walk around town, and to hang loose on our porch together. We are obsessed with our cat, Taco, who is cuter and sweeter than everything.
Durham Knight - owner
I’m Durham! Besides being a mortgage processor for the SECU since 2013, my family is my #1 job. My wife Anna and I welcomed our first son, Leo, in 2022. He’s full of life, and we love him so much. Greensboro is a huge part of our story and how our journey began. Anna has lived in Greensboro since 2006, and I’ve been here since 2012. We are both alumni of UNCG. Together, we love being with family, playing with our dog, Caesar, and cat, Malley. Georgia football is my team! Go dawgs! I have played soccer my whole life and went to South Africa in 2010 for the World Cup. Go Liverpool LFC!! Anna keeps me creative; she has been a hairstylist in the Greensboro area for 10 years. She loves to paint and draw in her free time. Having GCG lets us become even closer to the Greensboro community that we love so much.
